December 11, 2018

President Trump is having a hard time finding someone who will accept the job of chief of staff at a chaotic and dysfunctional White House. His first choice, a young man named Nick Ayers, turned down the job. Now Trump is looking for new candidates. David Bossie, a Republican political operative, is a new dark horse candidate for the job.

The “dark horse” is a metaphor for a person in a race–one that everyone expected to lose. The dark horse starts at the back of the race, but slowly it runs faster and faster until it has a real chance of success.
